Understanding Cyber Insurance by Exploring a Ransomware Attack

 

We will explore the victim’s response to a hypothetical ransomware attack.  This includes: Forensic investigation; system restoration, establishing and/or defending against liability, and government compliance.  Various best practices and potential pitfalls will be discussed.

Learning Objectives:

1)      Learn the process and potential pitfalls of responding to a ransomware attack.

2)      Appreciate the importance of having a proactive plan in place to direct the breach response.

3)      Understand the role and limitations of insurance in creating and executing a response plan.

Responsibilities

Experience

Jeff grew up in the insurance industry - working in a family-owned agency as a child. He has extensive experience providing insurance and risk management solutions to customers in the construction industry throughout his career. He joined Aon in 2018 as an Account Executive. Prior to that, he worked as an Account Executive for a regional agency in Illinois and as an Account Executive and Officer for that family agency in Hawaii. Jeff has spoken numerous times for various construction trade organizations and lobbied legislative bodies on insurance matters which affect the construction industry.
